"Why is there Something Rather then Nothing?"

This question is used frequently in debates. First of all, you could say, what leads a person to believe that the universe isn't supposed to be here in the first place? Why would the universe have to be nonexistant, and then have been created? Why couldn't the universe just be here with the most basic of elements necessary that would come together and create more complex elememts, and objects?
